MD Series ISO 6432 Single-Acting Round Pneumatic Cylinder
The MD series is a slim roundline cylinder for applications that need spring-powered extension and air-powered retraction. When the powered chamber is exhausted, the internal spring extends the rod.
Every MD cylinder is built in-house at ATS Pneumatics in Christchurch, whether you choose a common stroke length or enter a custom measurement. Configure your cylinder online, view the price and select compatible mountings before ordering.

Common Aignep MD strokes are 10, 25, 40 and 50 mm. ATS also builds custom lengths up to 100 mm; the selected spring must suit your application.
Features and specifications
Standard: ISO 6432.
Made-to-order bore sizes: 16, 20 and 25 mm.
Online stroke range: 10–100 mm, entered in whole millimetres.
Operation: single acting, with spring-powered extension and air-powered retraction.
Working pressure: 1–10 bar.
Temperature range: 0 to +80°C; down to −20°C with dry air.
Air supply: filtered compressed air, lubricated or non-lubricated.
Cushioning: elastic end bumpers.
Position sensing: magnetic piston for compatible sensors fitted with a roundline mounting adapter.
Construction: AISI 304 stainless-steel barrel, AISI 303 stainless-steel rod and anodised aluminium end caps.
Seal materials: polyurethane rod and piston seals, with NBR O-rings.
Rod diameter, rod thread, air-port size and mounting dimensions vary by bore. The overview displays the key specifications for your selected size; the technical catalogue includes the full dimensional drawing and tables.
The extending spring opposes air-powered retraction. Its force varies with stroke and rod position, so both the required retraction force and the spring-driven extension must suit your application. Contact ATS if you need help confirming the spring and load.
Mountings and accessories
Compatible mounting options appear after selecting your bore. Mountings are priced separately, and more than one can be selected where required. Position sensors and their mounting adapters are additional items. Contact ATS for help selecting sensors or mounting arrangements for your application.
In-house manufacture and delivery
Standard production is usually 3–5 working days, with delivery time additional. An urgent or same-day production request is available through the configurator, subject to workshop capacity and ATS confirmation. We supply customers throughout New Zealand and can assist with replacement cylinders, custom strokes and application requirements.
Technical downloads
Download the ATS MD Series Technical Catalogue and the ATS Aignep Cylinder Mounts Catalogue for dimensional drawings, bore-specific measurements, operating specifications, spring-load references, force references and air-consumption information.
Select your bore and exact stroke to download a dimension sheet for your finished size. The MD sheet shows the cylinder in its spring-extended position.
